Inspection Division

alarm_wallThe Flagler Beach Fire Rescue Department's Fire Inspection Division serves as one of the department's public relations agents by performing inspections and re-inspections within the community's businesses and multi-family complexes. In addition, the division is involved with all new construction by meeting with developers and builders to ensure that new buildings will provide adequate fire and life safety features according to code.

The department's goal is to prevent unnecasary injury and loss of life by providing inspections where human occupancy is the greatest, and in areas with substantial hazards. It is essential that the means of egress and other safeguards, including the building's features of fire protection systems and fire protection equipment, are maintained in each occupancy. This will provide for prompt escape and avoid undue danger to the lives and safety of occupants from fire, smoke, and other hazardous conditions.

The Inspection Division performs a fire inspection on all new businesses and an annual inspection for all existing businesses. These inspections are performed in accordance with the Florida Fire Prevention Code and the National Fire Prevention Code.

As a new business in Flagler Beach, the Fire Department's Inspection Division hopes that this page will help you prepare for your fire inspection. Please contact the Inspection Division at (386) 517-2010 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to schedule your inspections or if you have any questions.

Fire department inspections of new construction projects involve many steps, beginning with a plans review of the building in blue print form and ending with the completed structure and the issuance of a certificate. The main purpose of these inspections is to ensure that new buildings meet fire code requirements as adopted by the City of Flagler Beach and the State of Florida.
