Welcome to the City of Flagler Beach Fire Rescue Department’s Recruiting page! We want to thank you for your interest in joining the fire service. Being a combination department, we have both paid and volunteer personnel. There are many areas that one can choose to serve their community, whether its volunteering their time with they can or going through the academy and choosing to make it a career. Either way, we're here to support you along your journey, wherever it may lead you. Firefighting is an honorable profession, one that involves selflessness, sacrifice, commitment to the greater good, honor, loyalty, and courage.


Today’s firefighter must be a skilled, competent professional able to respond to every kind of emergency. Flagler Beach firefighters undergo continuous in-service training. This ongoing education provides knowledge of the latest developments in firefighting and rescue techniques. Training also includes such subjects as handling water rescue incidents, motor vehicle accidents and emergency medical procedures. Fire prevention and fire investigation are additional areas of training provided. Firefighters also learn some teaching skills in order to educate the public to better promote fire prevention and safety awareness throughout the community that the department serves.

The Fire Police division is an important function within the Flagler Beach Fire Rescue Department. This position is intended to fulfill the need for certain support personnel during a fire or other emergency. The primary function of the fire police unit is to control the scene and traffic and to assist in evacuations. This position is ideal for those that want to serve the community through the fire department but either do not want to fight fires or can not pass the firefighter requirements.
